U.S. Regulators OK Atlantic Coast and Mountain Valley Natural Gas Pipelines

Japan Times reported: A divided panel of federal regulators granted approvals Friday evening for the Atlantic Coast and Mountain Valley natural gas pipelines, major East Coast projects. The 600-mile, approximately $5 billion Atlantic Coast Pipeline would start in north-central West Virginia, cross Virginia and bend through eastern North Carolina. Its lead developer is Dominion Energy, along with partners Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas and Southern Company Gas. Leslie Hartz, vice president of engineering and construction for Dominion, said in a statement that the company was pleased to receive approval for the “vitally important” project. Well Done – Following Evacuations and Highway Closures, Natural Gas Well in Velma Capped

Duncan Banner reported: A natural gas and oil well in Velma, Okla. has been capped following a blowout that led to highway closures and evacuations over a threemile radius starting Friday evening and lasting into Saturday morning. According to Velma Fire Chief Jay Dumas, the situation was brought under control by first responders and Cudd Energy Services (Cudd) at approximately 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon. “It’s totally sealed off,” Dumas said. “Cudd is still up there monitoring the situation and if anything else [happens] we’ll respond out there.” “We had no recorded injuries, no loss of anything like that. — The community heard what we [asked] of them and they evacuated,“ Dumas said. “The failure was on the well head where the rods come up through it. It just was wore out and it finally blowed out.” said Dumas. “The well hadn’t been pumped in 10 months, they’d had it shut in, it pressured up. Something pressures up like that, it can fail.” For more on this story visit duncanbanner.com or click http://bit.ly/2idmFf8
