Republic Services Expands Natural Gas Fleet in Denver Area
Waste 360 reported: Republic Services has added 17 new compressed natural gas (CNG) solid waste collection trucks to its fleet serving customers throughout the greater Denver area. The CNG trucks replace older diesel-powered trucks and bring the total number of natural gas vehicles operated by the company throughout Colorado to 108. “We are passionate about sustainability and understand its importance to our customers,” said Randy Johnson, general manager of Republic Services’ Denver hauling division, in a statement. “This fleet upgrade represents a significant investment in cleaner, safer and more efficient vehicles for the Denver community. It also embodies the responsibility we assume for doing our part to preserve Colorado’s considerable natural beauty for future generations.” Republic Services operates a natural gas fueling station at its Commerce City location, which supports its expanding Denver-based CNG fleet. Lower Federal Tax Rate Likely to Cut Natural Gas Bills By 58 Cents a Month
Chron reports: CenterPoint Energy is passing along its savings in federal taxes at the request of state regulators by proposing to reduce average residential bills for natural gas customers by 58 cents each month. The proposal, which is scheduled to go before Houston City Council on Wednesday, comes seven months after federal corporate tax rates were lowered from 35 percent to 21 percent, and mounting pressure from states, including Texas, to make sure utilities are passing along their tax savings to ratepayers. Several attorney generals, including Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in January to adjust rates to prevent utilities from reaping a windfall from the lower federal corporate income tax rate rate.
