Weather went colder in the 11-15 day period. We now will have at least 16 days of Below Normal temps for a large swatch of the Con
US. It has been since Feb of 2021 since we have had a period of locked in cold this long. Feb is up .34 cents as well as the entire curve is rallying on the news. Look for Freeze offs in the Marcellus this week and possibly Haynesville IF they get freezing rain and can’t get the water trucks out. The weather is going to break here at some point so look for increased Volatility going forward. Cash is going to
lead the way at least for this week.
US Winter Storms Could Cut Natural-Gas Supplies
Jan 3 (Reuters) – Freezing weather and snow storms across the U.S. could cause massive power outages and boost natural gas demand
to its highest levels of the winter, according to energy analysts and reliability coordinators. The bump in demand comes as supplies of gas could drop due to the freezing of oil and gas wells and pipes, known in the energy industry as so-called “freeze-offs.” Gas provides about 43% of the nation’s power generation and heats about 45% of the country’s homes, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
