Hurricane Isaias made landfall last night in North Carolina as a Category 1 storm. With sustained winds of 85 mph and heavy rain, the system caused power outages along its path.
Today, Isaias has been downgraded to a tropical storm as it moves north, dumping rain and causing storm surge along the mid-Atlantic coast. It is expected to move northward targeting the Northeast as it continues on its track.
Now that the storm has passed with relatively little damage, Mansfield is moving North Carolina and South Carolina to Code Green from Code Orange. Virginia and Maryland remain on Code Orange. Power outages in Virginia have cause some terminals to experience temporary downtime. In addition, Mansfield is raising Washington D.C. and New Jersey to Code Orange as the storm has already begun to affect service in those areas.
Mansfield will provide additional updates as the storm’s path and strength progress.
