Pompeo Says Nord Stream 2 Natural Gas Pipeline Brings ‘Enormous Security Risk’ to Europe

S&P Global reported: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Tuesday the US would keep fighting the 55 Bcm/year Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline, declining to rule out the possibility of leveling sanctions against the Russia-to-Germany project. “President Trump has been very clear that America is going to do what it can within its power to see that European security is foremost when it comes to energy decisions,” Pompeo said during a news conference in Warsaw with Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz, according to a State Department transcript. Nord Stream 2 remains on track to come online by the end of 2019. For more on this story visit spglobal.com or click https://bit.ly/2TNhCQe

Dominion Energy Reducing Methane Emissions From Natural Gas

The Express reported: Dominion Energy has announced an historic, industry-leading initiative to reduce methane emissions from its natural gas infrastructure by 50 percent over the next decade, based on 2010 levels. The initiative will prevent more than 430,000 metric tons of methane from entering the atmosphere, the equivalent of taking 2.3 million cars off the road for a year or planting nearly 180 million new trees. Dominion Energy is using innovative technologies like ZEVAC® to capture, recycle and re-use methane in other parts of the system. This voluntary initiative builds on the significant progress Dominion Energy has made in reducing methane emissions over the last decade, which prevented more than 180,000 metric tons of methane from entering the atmosphere, equivalent to taking almost 1 million cars off the road for a year or planting 75 million new trees. The initiative also builds on the 50 percent reduction in carbon emissions Dominion Energy has achieved across its electric fleet since 2000, and the significant advances it is making with renewable energy.
