Winter Storm Alert – Winter Storm Cora – January 9, 2025
Winter Storm Cora is currently sweeping across the South, from Texas to Virginia, bringing a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain through Friday night. Major metro areas, including Dallas-Ft. Worth, Little Rock, Nashville, Atlanta, and Charlotte, are under winter weather alerts. The storm is expected to disrupt travel and may cause scattered power outages in areas impacted by heavy icing.
The storm arrived earlier than anticipated in Texas, with ice already forming on roads. Carriers in these markets are pulling trucks off the road for safety and anticipate delayed starts tomorrow. As the storm spreads eastward, dangerous travel conditions are anticipated in northern Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and southern Kansas, with intensifying snow and icy precipitation throughout the day.
By Friday, the storm will move into the Mid-South, Tennessee Valley, and Carolinas, bringing snow totals of up to 5 inches to many areas, with isolated totals nearing 10 inches in parts of Arkansas, southeast Oklahoma, and northern Texas. Areas near and north of Atlanta, Greenville, and Charlotte may experience 1-2 inches of snow and sleet, followed by freezing rain. Although the storm is expected to subside by Saturday, its effects may linger, with travel and logistical challenges continuing into the weekend.
We encourage customers in affected areas to prepare for potential delays and disruptions. Safety remains our top priority, and we are working closely with our carriers to minimize delays.
Mansfield is keeping Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland, and Virginia on Code Orange, requesting 48-hours for new deliveries. All other states have returned to normal operations.
For customers enrolled in Mansfield’s inventory management and ColdPRO programs, Mansfield treats deliveries with appropriate additives and kerosene blends to prevent gelling and optimize cold-weather performance. Customers who have not done so already are encouraged to enroll in Mansfield’s ColdPRO program or contact info@mansfieldoil.com for assistance. Our team remains available 24/7 to provide support during these severe weather events.
Stay safe and warm.
