Winter Storm Alert – Blair & Cora – January 8, 2025

By Published On: January 8, 2025Categories: Alerts, Storm Season, Winter Weather

Winter Storm Cora is set to impact 11 Southern and Midwestern states this week, bringing snow, freezing rain, and frigid temperatures. The National Weather Service warns that light snow will begin Wednesday across Texas and the Lower Mississippi Valley, followed by a more significant storm Thursday into Friday. Forecasts indicate Texas could see 2-4 inches of snow, while central Arkansas may receive up to 8 inches. The Tennessee Valley and southern Appalachian regions are expected to get 3-5 inches of snow by Friday, and north Mississippi, southeast Missouri, and west Tennessee could face 3-6 inches of snow along with light ice accumulation.

Snow and ice could cause power outages, particularly in Texas, which experienced catastrophic blackouts during the February 2021 winter storm. Given the forecast for severe winter weather in Texas and Oklahoma, Mansfield is actively taking steps to ensure safe and reliable fuel deliveries to customers.

Carriers in the Northeast and Central parts of the US are fully operational, having reported good road conditions. Mansfield is keeping Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland, and Virginia on Code Orange, requesting 48-hours for new deliveries. All other states have returned to normal operations.

For customers enrolled in Mansfield’s inventory management and ColdPRO programs, Mansfield treats deliveries with appropriate additives and kerosene blends to prevent gelling and optimize cold-weather performance. Customers who have not done so already are encouraged to enroll in Mansfield’s ColdPRO program or contact info@mansfieldoil.com for assistance. Our team remains available 24/7 to provide support during these severe weather events. Stay safe and warm as we navigate inclement weather across the nation.
