Storm Alert – Hurricane Rafael – November 6, 2024
Hurricane Rafael has intensified to Category 2 storm, with sustained winds reaching 110 mph and a northwest trajectory at 14 mph according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm’s path remains uncertain as it approaches the Gulf Coast overnight, with some forecasts indicating a possible landfall near Corpus Christi and along the Texas and Louisiana coasts. However, it is still too early to determine the exact impact zone.
Rafael is projected to weaken to a tropical storm before reaching the U.S., though it will bring significant rainfall to Florida mid-to-late week, with 1 to 3 inches anticipated in the lower and middle Florida Keys, where tropical storm conditions are expected to begin Wednesday.
As a precaution, Mansfield has begun working with customers in affected areas to top off fuel tanks. We will continue to monitor Hurricane Rafael closely and provide updates as the storm develops.
