Tropical Depression #9 – Level 3 Alert
Mansfield is moving to Level 3 Alert ahead of the approaching Tropical Depression#9, signaling that the storm is beginning to have a fuel supply impact and internal preparations are underway. The storm is currently on track to make landfall on Wednesday morning along Florida’s west coast. Currently a tropical depression, the storm is expected to intensify as it approaches, rising to major hurricane status before making landfall.
Florida’s fuel supply is almost entirely barge-fed. As hurricanes approach, they make sea conditions dangerous, preventing deliveries temporarily. Depending on the speed, strength, and size of the storm, expect some supply delays in the Florida market ahead of the storm and immediately afterward. Carrier markets could also face constraints, as demand tends to surge before a storm due to panic buying. The storm appears to be moving quickly, so recovery after the storm should hopefully be rapid.
For new deliveries, Mansfield is moving to Code Orange for Florida markets, requesting 48-hour notice for new deliveries. In Miami, Mansfield is moving to Code Red, meaning a 72-hour notice for new deliveries.
