Mountain Valley Pipeline Says Expansion Will Not Cause Excess Natural Gas Supply
S&P Global reported: Mountain Valley Pipeline told federal regulators it was not overbuilding as it defended its MVP Southgate natural gas pipeline expansion from protests by two North Carolina agencies and a coalition of environmental groups. Mountain Valley said in a Tuesday motion filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that the project is designed to meet growing gas demand in central North Carolina and southern Virginia. “The project will not create excess gas supply,” the pipeline developer wrote. “The project will provide natural gas transportation capacity and access to new supplies in the Marcellus and Utica shale regions to meet demand in the Southeast.” Mountain Valley was responding to protests by the North Carolina Utilities Commission, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality and groups led by Appalachian Mountain Advocates. Texas Oil and Gas Production Increases with Stalled Job Growth
Rigzone reported: 2018 saw increases in Texas crude oil and natural gas production despite stalled industry job growth, according to a recent report from the Texas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO). TIPRO reports that the state’s crude oil production was 1.35 billion barrels through November 2018 with a total of 1.5 billion barrels expected through 2018. November’s figures represent an increase of 209 million barrels. Natural gas production was at 7.5 trillion cubic feet through November. Activity in West Texas and the Permian is credited for most of last year’s production surges. And while production was on the rise, the oil and gas industry’s job growth stalled in November. Texas added more than 10,000 industry jobs through November 2018 with the upstream sector accounting for most of the growth. For more on this story visit rigzone.com or click https://bit.ly/2Fm0qha
