Tropical Storm Hermine Moves to RED ALERT for Southeast States

Gainesville, GA – September 1, 2016 – Tropical Storm Hermine is expected to make landfall close to Perry, FL this evening. Several models have Hermine making landfall as a Category 1 Hurricane. In preparation, the Governor of Florida has issued a State of Emergency for 51 counties. Hurricane and Tropical Storm watches and warnings have expanded in Florida and have been added in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

Tropical Storm Hermine’s path has shifted further north over the past 24 hours and is expected move up the east coast of the Atlantic over the Labor Day Weekend.

As seen in the picture below heavy rains will move across the Southeast over the next 3 days. We anticipate flooding and storm surge in the Gulf over the next 24 hours. Also, heavy rain and localized flooding can occur in South Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

Due to the storm intensity and expectation of landfall within the next 24 hours, we are moving to Hurricane Status Red for Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and North Carolina. We continue to have our daily storm preparation meetings with Operations, Supply, Carrier Relations, and Sales.
