Storm Alert – Winter Storm Blair – January 6, 2025

By Published On: January 6, 2025Categories: Alerts, Storm Season, Winter Weather

Winter Storm Blair is causing widespread disruptions across the Mid-Atlantic and Central U.S. Blair has brought hazardous travel conditions, flight cancellations, and record-low temperatures, impacting transportation and logistics across the region.

Winter Storm Blair has already dropped over 15 inches of snow in parts of Kansas and Missouri, with 6–12 inches expected in southern Ohio and the Mid-Atlantic, including Washington D.C. Blizzard conditions with wind gusts exceeding 40 mph have been reported in Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri. Icing and freezing rain have caused tree damage and power outages across the central Appalachians.

Mansfield is actively working with carriers to monitor conditions and address disruptions caused by Winter Storm Blair. Several carriers have temporarily suspended operations in key regions due to hazardous weather. All scheduled loads will be rescheduled as soon as operations resume.

Emergency Declarations

Several states, including Kentucky, Missouri, Virginia, Maryland, and New Jersey, have declared states of emergency in response to the storm. Federal safety regulations, including Hours of Service rules, have been temporarily suspended in some areas to aid emergency relief and fuel transportation efforts. Road closures and hazardous conditions are continuing to impact travel across these areas, including Baltimore, Charleston (WV), Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Washington D.C.

In light of the escalating conditions, Mansfield is moving the following states to Code Orange requesting 48 hours for new deliveries: Maryland, New Jersey, Kentucky, Virginia, Missouri, Washington D.C., Arkansas, Indiana, Kansas, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, and Illinois.

To help mitigate disruptions, all inventory-managed sites were pre-stocked ahead of the storm. Mansfield also treats fuel with additives and kerosene at these sites to prevent gelling and ensure optimal cold-weather performance.

If you are not yet enrolled in Mansfield’s ColdPRO program for winterized fuel or have questions about cold-weather fuel preparation, please contact your account representative or email info@mansfieldoil.com.

Mansfield’s team is available 24/7 to assist with fuel adjustments, deliveries, or emergency support during the storm. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as conditions evolve.

Thank you for your partnership—stay safe and warm during Winter Storm Blair.
