Winter Storm Alert – January 3, 2025 – Winter Storm Blair

By Published On: January 3, 2025Categories: Alerts, Daily Market News & Insights

Winter Storm Blair, the first named winter storm of 2025, continues to evolve, with forecasts indicating snow, ice, and freezing temperatures impacting up to 250 million people across 40 states this weekend. Models are still shifting, and Mansfield is closely monitoring developments to keep you informed. The storm is expected to bring hazardous conditions beginning Saturday in the Rockies, Plains, and Midwest, affecting cities like Kansas City, St. Louis, and Wichita. By Sunday, it will extend east into West Virginia and the Appalachian Mountains and move south into Oklahoma, impacting Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Louisville.

By Monday, snow will spread into the mid-Atlantic, including Baltimore, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Charleston, S.C., and parts of West Virginia. Forecasts predict 6–12 inches of snow across affected areas, with sub-freezing temperatures lingering through mid-January and potentially impacting areas as far south as Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida.

Carriers within the impacted region expect to continue deliveries as normal until conditions make it unsafe to do so. In preparation for potential weather disruptions, Mansfield encourages customers to ensure driveways, tanks, and drop areas remain clear of snow and ice to allow safe and efficient deliveries. We also encourage you to top off fuel tanks in advance to avoid last-minute shortages caused by weather delays and monitor local weather and road conditions as the situation develops.

With Arctic air pushing temperatures well below average, diesel fuel gelling and delivery delays may pose additional challenges. Mansfield proactively treats inventory-managed sites with additives and kerosene to prevent gelling and optimize cold-weather performance. If you are not yet enrolled in Mansfield’s ColdPRO program for winterized fuel or have any questions about cold-weather fuel preparation, please contact your account representative or email info@mansfieldoil.com.

Mansfield’s team is available 24/7 to assist with fuel adjustments, deliveries, or emergency support during the storm. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as conditions change. Thank you for your partnership, and please stay safe and warm as we weather Winter Storm Blair together.
