Winter Storm Alert – January 2, 2025

By Published On: January 2, 2025Categories: Alerts, Storm Season

Mansfield is closely monitoring Winter Storm Blair, expected to impact much of the central and eastern U.S. this weekend and over the next week. Forecasts predict heavy snowfall, hazardous ice accumulation, and dangerously cold temperatures that could affect transportation and fuel deliveries.

Winter Storm Blair is forecasted to bring widespread snow and ice across the Plains, Midwest, and mid-Atlantic. Snow and ice will begin in the Plains and Midwest Saturday, extending eastward into the mid-Atlantic by Sunday night. Heavy snow is expected along the Interstate 70 corridor from Kansas to Ohio, while ice accumulation may create treacherous conditions from central Kansas to the Ohio Valley and Appalachians. Arctic cold, with below-freezing temperatures as far south as Florida and Texas, will accompany the storm, leading to dangerously low wind chills.

Road closures and hazardous driving conditions are likely. Delivery delays may occur due to icy roads, poor visibility, and gusty winds. Increased fuel demand is expected as people prepare for cold temperatures, emergencies, and potential power outages caused by ice accumulation.

Mansfield is taking proactive measures to ensure supply continuity and minimize disruptions. Our team is monitoring weather patterns and road conditions, prioritizing fuel deliveries to critical locations, and coordinating with carriers to maximize delivery capacity before the storm hits.

How You Can Prepare

Mansfield encourages you to top off your fuel tanks ahead of the storm to avoid last-minute shortages and stay updated on weather alerts, road conditions, and emergency power solutions. Depending on the severity of the storm, diesel fuel may be at risk for gelling, and strong winds could impact fuel deliveries. Mansfield proactively treats all inventory-managed sites with additives and kerosene to prepare for cold weather and will keep customers informed as conditions change.

If you are not part of Mansfield’s ColdPRO program for winterized fuel or have questions, please contact your account representative or email info@mansfieldoil.com. Our team is available 24/7 to assist with any fuel adjustments or concerns.

Stay safe and warm!
