Storm Alert – Tropical Storm Debby – August 7, 2024

By Published On: August 7, 2024Categories: Alerts

Tropical Storm Debby has returned to the Atlantic and is strengthening as it lashes the Southeast US coast. The storm’s center is currently located about 65 miles south of Charleston, South Carolina, with sustained winds of 45 mph. Debby has strengthened since moving over the Atlantic yesterday and is expected to continue strengthening as it moves off the coast.

Debby is expected to make a second landfall on Thursday on the South Carolina coast. The storm is forecasted to dump 12-24 inches of rain over the next few days, having already caused significant flooding and damage in parts of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Those three states have declared a state of emergency and are now facing a heat wave that could further complicate the storm recovery, especially for the thousands still without power.

In light of the storm’s current path, Mansfield is keeping South Carolina in Code Orange, requesting 48-hour notice for new deliveries. The code orange has been removed for Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. We will continue to monitor market conditions and keep customers alerted as the situation progresses.
