NextDecade awards Rio Grande LNG construction contracts to Bechtel
Chron reported: Houston liquefied natural gas company NextDecade has awarded a pair of construction contracts worth nearly $9.6 billion to San Francisco engineering firm Bechtel. Under the deals announced on Tuesday morning, Bechtel will provide engineering, procurement and construction services to build the first phase of NextDecade’s proposed Rio Grande LNG export terminal at the Port of Brownsville. NextDecade awarded Bechtel the contracts contingent on a July 25 permit decision from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. If the project secures a federal permit and reaches a positive final investment decision, Bechtel has pledged to have three production units, two storage tanks and two marine berths in operation by 2023. Department of Energy Authorizes Additional LNG Exports from Freeport LNG
Energy.gov reported: Today, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) advanced its commitment to promoting clean energy, job creation, and economic growth by approving additional exports of domestically produced natural gas from the Freeport LNG Terminal located on Quintana Island, Texas. The announcement was made at the Tenth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM10) in Vancouver, Canada where DOE is highlighting its efforts to advance clean energy. The expansion of the Freeport LNG facility is estimated to support up to 3,000 engineering and construction jobs and hundreds of indirect jobs associated with the project. “Increasing export capacity from the Freeport LNG project is critical to spreading freedom gas throughout the world by giving America’s allies a diverse and affordable source of clean energy.” For more on this story visit energy.gov or click https://bit.ly/2Whu6Fr
