Winter Storm Uri is moving to the northeast today, but that doesn’t mean the rest of the country is out of the woods. Wintery weather has struck the Southeast and Midwest, causing icy road conditions and shutting off power. Texas has seen record-low temperatures. In some fuel markets, numerous fuel carriers have been forced off the road. In particular, several Texas markets are seeing severe delivery constraints, slowing deliveries and creating a backlog of deliveries. These areas may experience delayed deliveries for the remainder of the week as carriers navigate treacherous road conditions.

 

Adding to fuel challenges, a second winter storm is forming right behind Uri, seemingly on a similar trajectory. Winter Storm Viola will blanket Texas and Oklahoma with ice and snow tonight before heading northeastward, impacting the Ohio Valley region later this week and then hitting New England.

 

Frigid conditions are persisting throughout the country, with temperatures in many areas falling below zero degrees Fahrenheit at night.
