November 10, 2022 – Supply Alert – Hurricane Nicole – Code Red

By Published On: November 10, 2022Categories: Alerts, Daily Market News & Insights

Mansfield is monitoring the aftermath of Hurricane Nicole, which made landfall early this morning just south of Vero Beach, FL. Nicole had sustained winds near 75 mph at landfall, though the storm has since been downgraded to a Tropical Storm. Some 300,000 customers are lacking electricity this morning, with power companies pursuing repairs where safe.

Fuel terminal closures have been reported in Tampa and Orlando due to power outages. In most cases, these outages should not last long, and fuel deliveries should be able to resume later today. Whenever winds exceed 35+ mph, fuel trucks are typically pulled off the road for safety reasons. With winds reported near 58 mph this morning, truck deliveries are delayed until the storm passes, though deliveries may be possible in some areas.

Given the driver shortage and constrained capacity, the storm’s passage and resulting outages will show up in the supply chain in the form of delays. Mansfield remains on Code Red, requesting 72-hour notice for deliveries from customers. Mansfield will continue monitoring the market for changes through the weekend and expects most delays and outages to be cleared by next week unless prolonged terminal or trucking outages occur.

Mansfield is also remaining on Code Red in the Southeast and Midwest, with no significant changes in supply availability in those areas.
