Tropical Storm Harvey is located just off the coast of Texas. Strong winds and cumulative rainfall between four and eight inches are expected to hit the Houston area Thursday evening through Sunday, bringing a high risk of flooding and power outages throughout the area. Harvey is expected to move inland between Corpus Christi and Port Lavaca on Friday evening, and could intensify to a Category 1 hurricane in a worst case scenario.
The outskirts of Harvey are moving towards the shore on the Yucatan Peninsula and will continue making its way into the Bay of Campeche by Tuesday night.
Some major refiners are located in Corpus Christi including those belonging to Flint Hills, Valero, and Citgo. Depending on the severity of the storm, fuel purchases at the rack typically increase and non-essential staff are evacuated from terminals, which could lead to supply shortages in the Mid-West region.
Mansfield’s Operations team is on “Orange Alert” as the storm continues to strengthen. We will continue to update customers as the system develops.
