Storm Alert – Code Red – 9.10.21

By Published On: September 10, 2021Categories: Alerts, Daily Market News & Insights

Conditions are improving slowly within Mississippi and Louisiana, though much work remains. Five refineries in New Orleans are still offline, though conditions have improved in other markets. While deliveries in southern Louisiana will remain tight for weeks, conditions in surrounding areas are getting a bit better as refineries come online and carriers catch up with the backlog of deliveries.

Entergy, the power company covering most of New Orleans, warned earlier this week that some areas may need to wait weeks before power is restored. In areas where power has returned, it could take several weeks before conditions return to normal and fuel stations are filled. According to Gas Buddy, roughly half of fuel stations in New Orleans and Baton Rouge have no gasoline, and 1 in 3 stations has no diesel fuel.

With conditions improving in the areas surrounding Lousiana, Mansfield is moving Mississippi down to Code Orange. Louisiana remains on Code Red, and Mansfield is actively monitoring conditions to determine when the state’s operational alert status can be reduced. Mansfield requests 48-hour notice for new orders in Mississippi and continued 72-hour notice in Louisiana.
