Nearly 40 Homes Catch Fire After Natural Gas Tragedy North of Boston; 1 Dead

USA Today reported: A natural gas leak fiasco sparked fires in at least 39 homes throughout northeast Massachusetts communities, killing a man, causing explosions, and creating widespread “Armageddon,” police and local officials said Thursday. The fires, which erupted after suspected gas leaks around Lawrence, Massachusetts, are still unexplained. Authorities say one of the homes that exploded sent a chimney hurtling through the air and onto a car, fatally injuring the driver. “It looked like Armageddon, it really did,” Andover Fire Chief Michael Mansfield told reporters. “There were billows of smoke coming from Lawrence behind me. I could see pillars of smoke in front of me from the town of Andover.” Gov. Charlie Baker said state and local authorities are investigating but that it could take days or weeks before they turn up answers. Market Watch reports: Oil futures fell sharply on Thursday, with U.S. benchmark prices dropping back from the nearly two-month high seen a day earlier, as an industry report showed global supplies at a record and Hurricane Florence weakened ahead of its expected landfall on the East Coast. That output more than made up for an expected decline in Iranian supply due to extant and pending U.S. economic sanctions. The August report also signaled that global supplies hit a record of 100 million barrels a day. For more on this story visit marketwatch.com or click https://on.mktw.net/2xj6m42
