Southern Star Natural Gas Pipeline Catches Fire in Kansas

Reuters reported: A natural gas pipeline operated by Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline Inc caught fire in a rural area of Kansas, the company said on Friday, adding that no injuries were reported. The company declared force majeure on line segment 130 due to the incident, it said in a notice to its customers. The impact of the fire, which occurred at 7:30 a.m. CDT (1230 GMT) in Harvey County, is currently being assessed, said Nathan Isbell, a Southern Star official. Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline [WILGAS.UL] includes a natural gas transmission system that is about 6,000 miles long and runs through the Midwest and mid-continent regions of the United States, according to the company’s website. Leach XPress Natural Gas Pipeline Continuing Force Majeure Moves Prices, Reroutes Output

Platts reported: A pipeline explosion and subsequent force majeure that began last Thursday on Columbia Gas Transmission’s Leach XPress natural gas pipeline in Marshall County, West Virginia, remains in effect and continues impacting hub prices in Appalachia this week, although rerouted regional production remains flat. Late Tuesday, Columbia said that it was working to restore service on the LXP Line, downstream of the affected segment, which would enable the Stagecoach meter to return to service. With the restoration process underway a returnto- service date is currently unknown Columbia said. An updated status report on the pipeline’s condition is scheduled to be released on June 18. On Wednesday, S&P Global Platts estimated preliminary price settlements at Columbia Gas Appalachia at around $2.82/MMBtu, at Dominion South near $2.30/MMBtu and at Texas Eastern M2 around $2.24/MMBtu.
