Rough Natural Gas Production Drops to Zero Amid Early UK System Length

S&P Global reported: Natural gas production from the Rough asset, the former UK offshore storage site, fell to zero at 0600 GMT on Wednesday morning, in an apparent response to early market signals indicating high UK gas system length, information from grid operator National Grid has indicated. Production from the reclassified North Sea asset has averaged 8.35 million cu m/d since the beginning of January, a level close to those seen immediately prior to Wednesday’s cessation. No technical outage was officially declared by operator Centrica in accordance with REMIT regulation by 1200 GMT on Wednesday. Rough had also paused production momentarily between 0200-1615 GMT on January 7, amid extreme system length and plummeting On-The-Day Commodity Market NBP prices overnight, and also without any declaration of unplanned maintenance. SoCalGas Urges Consumers to Conserve Natural Gas During Cold

Reuters reported: Southern California Gas Co (SoCalGas) urged consumers to reduce natural gas use until further notice to avoid straining the utility’s system as cold weather blankets parts of its service area. In addition to asking homes and businesses to cut back, SoCalGas, a unit of California energy company Sempra Energy, also issued a voluntary curtailment notice to electric generators for Monday-Friday. Gas supplies are expected to remain tight in Southern California this winter due to limitations on several SoCalGas pipelines and reduced availability of the utility’s biggest storage field at Aliso Canyon in Los Angeles, following a massive leak between October 2015 and February 2016. High temperatures in Los Angeles are expected to reach the mid 50s to low 60s Fahrenheit (14-17 Celsius) Tuesday-Thursday, according to weather forecaster AccuWeather. The normal high in Los Angeles is 68 degrees at this time of year. For more on this story visit reuters.com or click https://reut.rs/2MgtcQU
