Oil, Natural Gas Production Increases in Utica Shale
The Business Journal reported: Two horizontal wells in Columbiana County yielded significant production during the second quarter of 2018, as oil and gas exploration in this part of the Utica shale continues to ramp up. According to production data on the quarter ended June 30 provided by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, two wells operated by Chesapeake Exploration LLC at its Paige well pad in Franklin Township yielded more than 800 million cubic feet of natural gas apiece. Chesapeake’s Paige 3H well produced 844.052 million cubic feet of gas over 88 days, while the Paige 1H yielded 836.414 million cubic feet over 87 days – the best production numbers from single Utica wells in Columbiana County yet. Chesapeake reported 52 producing wells in the county that yielded a combined 5.771 billion cubic feet of gas during the period. Hilcorp Energy Co. also reported strong results from its Columbiana County wells in Fairfield and Elk Run townships. US officials Approve Large Natural Gas Field in Wyoming
San Francisco Chronicle reported: Federal officials have approved a natural gas field in Wyoming, and protesters say the decision will threaten roaming pronghorn. The Jackson Hole News and Guide reports the Bureau of Land Management issued a record of decision Tuesday for the 3,500-well field on more than 200 square miles (518 square kilometers) of mostly federal land in Sublette County. The Bureau of Land Management statement says the field could produce 7 trillion cubic feet (0.2 trillion cubic meters) of natural gas and up to 140 million barrels of oil over its expected 40-year lifespan, generating $18 billion in revenue. Western Watersheds Project staffer Kelly Fuller says her group will fight the decision, as it “moves greater sage-grouse closer to extinction and threatens pronghorn.” For more on this story visit sfchronicle.com or click https://bit.ly/2PlqKsH
