Texas to Mexico natural gas pipeline delayed

Kallanish Energy Reported: The completion of Enbridge’s Valley Crossing Pipeline from Texas to Mexico has been delayed until April 2019 due to weather conditions and delays in the completion of the Mexican portion of the project.Originally planned to open this month, the 2.6 billion cubic feet a day (Bcf/d) capacity line would be the largest natural gas pipline flowing from the U.S. into Mexico, Kallanish Energy learns.Enbridge said the delay was due to an inability to test the pipeline due to delays in the completion of the Mexican portion, which connects with the Enbridge section offshore from Brownsville, Texas, in the Gulf of Mexico. NIPSCO Defends Safety of Area Gas Lines after Massachusetts Explosions

Chicago Tribune Reported: As an investigation continues into the cause of a series of gas explosion in Massachusetts that killed one teenager, injured more than 20 others and burned dozens of homes last month, Highland Fire Chief William Timmer said he’s concerned, but not terrified, that the same disaster could happen here. “Am I concerned? Sure, I am. Do I tremble every night thinking about it? No,” Timmer said. While Timmer said these explosions rarely happen, he recalled a similar incident that occurred in the Glen Park area of Gary in 1969. Nine residents and five firefighters were injured, seven houses destroyed and dozens of others damaged and about $350,000 in property damage occurred as a result of a series of explosions and fires in Gary, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
