Risk of Power Outages in Puget Sound After Canadian Pipeline Explosion Cuts Off Natural-Gas Supply

The Seattle Times Reported: A pipeline explosion in British Columbia on Tuesday cut off the flow of Canadian natural gas into Washington, raising the risk of power outages around the state. Puget Sound Energy (PSE), Avista Corp. and Cascade Natural Gas said Wednesday that their gas supplies had been disrupted due to the explosion that occurred a day earlier and asked their customers to reduce consumption. The three companies serve almost 2.4 million customers combined, mostly in Washington, according to the companies’ websites. U.S. Natural Gas Output, Demand Seen Rising to Record Highs in 2018: EIA

Reuters Reported:U.S. dry natural gas production should rise to an all-time high of 82.67 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) in 2018 from 74.77 bcfd in 2017, according to the Energy Information Administration’s Short Term Energy Outlook (STEO) on Wednesday. The latest October output projection for 2018 was up from the 80.96 bcfd forecast in September and would easily top the current annual record high of 74.15 bcfd produced on average in 2015. EIA also projected U.S. gas consumption would rise to an all-time high of 80.58 bcfd in 2018 from 74.27 bcfd in 2017. For more on this story go to reuters.com or click https://reut.rs/2IPGwtP
